The Information Technology Unit (ITU)

The ITU is now one of the most essential units in the Faculty which provides several high-technology services to all members of the faculty including students, scientific and administrative departments. These new measures taken have greatly developed the ITU and now several services are undertaken by this unit including:

Faculty network : Now there is a complete network that connects all departments of the faculty PCs which ensure easy and rapid flow of the information including announcements, schedules and students lists among all the faculty.

Faculty site: The ITU is responsible for the continuous improvement and maintenance of the web site of the faculty and uploading different pieces of information including announcements, schedules, lectures, practical sessions even md-term and final exams results.  This will provide a rapid means for the students to access all kind of information they need.

Construction of a computer lab: Now, there is a separate computer lab connected to the internet consisting of about 35 inter-connected PCs. This computer lab helps post-graduate students to receive lectures of computer instead of Science University. Besides, its connection to the web allows a free access for all faculty members to the internet which is very important for students and faculty member staff in research and development.

Fixing and maintenance of the following: The network of the faculty PCs. The 3 new wireless datashow and sound system in the large lecture halls is the responsibility of the ITU staff. The PCs of all departments of the faculty including hardware and software problems.

Design, implementation and analysis of the following: The programs responsible of the results of the final exams for different years of the faculty. Also a network between controls of different years was constructed for easy flow of information needed for the cumulative control of last year.Quality programs to evaluate the performance of the Faculty staff members. Moreover, every student can now assess the faculty member through the faculty web site through a private token number as this facility is now added to the site.

New technologies considered to be added: Construction of a network between the 3 data shows in the 3 large lecture halls to allow doing a data-conference between the 3 halls. Construction of a complete database for the library which the ITU members are working right now.
